Workshop Facilitation
I led an hour long session on what an Experience Architect is with the intent of constructing a memorable experience for my audience. I wanted to teach through example with inquisitive discussions and engaging games.

The goal was to take the seventh face of innovation from Tom Kelly's, The Ten Faces of Innovation, and create an experience that would captivate the listeners longterm memory.

The unlikely example of Anita from the film, West Side Story, was then used to show how she demonstrates characteristics of an Experience Architect.
Empathetic - Anita is able to put others feelings before her own so she can understand why they feel a certain way.
Service Minded - She constantly works to ensure her family's survival.
Since Anita is an extremely extroverted character, the Myers Briggs personality types, were used to highlight the strengths of both extroverted and introverted Experience Architects so no one in the audience felt that they couldn't relate to an Experience Architect.

After explaining the various personality types and relaying personal examples of how I relate to an Experience Architect, we provided industry examples of Experience Architects turning their innovative ideas to reality.

MEOW WOLF
Meow Wolf is a live and interactive art display created by a group of rejected artists called the Misfits.

THE TOOTHSOME CHOCOLATE EMPORIUM
Chocolate Emporium is a steampunk themed restaurant in Universal Studios that is more than just a restaurant.

DICK'S LAST RESORT
Dick’s Last Resort is a restaurant where the staff gets paid to be rude to their customers.
How can small changes impact a seemingly similar experience?
Interactive Session
With a new understanding of what an Experience Architect does it was time to see if the audience could apply their learning in an interactive game.

The game was inspired by the show,Whose Line is it Anyways, and their specials called 'Party Quirks.' The game comprises of a host and a few guests who have special quirks that the host would have to try and guess.
1
First, groups of five were created and allowed to select one member to be the host.
2
The host would then wait outside as the party guest selected their quirks and lined up to enter the party.
3
Once the party guests were lined up, the host would return after five minutes to successfully guess everyone's quirks.

While the guidelines of the game remained the same for each round, the new personalities that entered the party drastically changed the scene further proving how anyone of any personality can create an experience worth remembering.
The game was so well received that once the workshop ended my professor asked my co-presenter and I to play the game once more, but this time we would be the party guests. Our professor excitedly volunteered to be the host, while the rest of the class argued about who would get to go a second time.
